Flying 15s
The International Flying Fifteen is a two-person racing keelboat with many of the characteristics of a dinghy. It planes (you get wet), it’s exhilarating, it’s small enough to trail to open meetings and offers competitive fleet sailing. It’s a ‘hiking’ class and it carries a powerful (symmetric) spinnaker. The class encourages racing at all levels. In club sailing, there is good competition throughout the fleet and our crews compete (and are successful) in regional, national and international championships. Competition in older boats is also keen, with very active classic and silver divisions. With boats remaining competitive for many years, entry to the class can be at a reasonable price. Contact: Nick Taylor.
Grafham is the home of one of the strongest regular club racing fleets of Flying Fifteens in the country. If you would like to join us at Grafham, you will be more than welcome – just turn up with your boat. Winter membership is available for boat and 2 persons from October 1st to the turn of the year and for a further period to the end of March. If you want to know more first, or to pre-book, contact the Club Secretary (Tel 01480 810478), or current Fleet Captain Nick Taylor ( 0116 2793371).
Roll of Honour
We offer our congratulations to Nick Heath and Pip Noon (the latter giving a creditable impersonation of Ted Legg). Nick and Pip won the Classic event at Royal Motor Yacht Club in Poole. So convincing was their performance that they were able to sit out the second day!
FLEET DUTIES
Click here to review the duties that you have been assigned in 2010. Thanks to everyone who gave their time to ensure that the usual high standards of race management were maintained in club and open meetings throughout 2009.
