Grafham is once again participating in ‘Push the Boat Out’ – an RYA initiative to encourage newcomers to our sport – and perhaps to remind ‘lapsed sailors’ of what they’re missing!
So, whether you’re a compulsive sailor / racer / windsurfer, an occasional cruiser, a sailing widow (or widower) or just someone who’d like to give sailing a try, then come along to the club on Saturday, 20 May.
We’ll be offering free sailing and windsurfing taster sessions for children and adults. The day starts at 11 am and ends at 4 pm. All of the club’s facilities will be open including the café, with the usual selection of drinks, lunch and cake.
Although our main objective is to encourage newcomers to sailing, we’d like to showcase Grafham and to show the range of activities on offer and the enthusiasm of our membership. So why not come along, dust off your boat cover and simply enjoy an afternoon sail? Or you could try out a branch of sailing that you’ve not previously experienced – windsurfing? – trapezing? – keelboats?
We’re looking for club helpers to meet and greet visitors, provide insights into club membership and, for those with experience and / or boats to help our regular instructors tempt visitors out on the water. If you’d like to help, please contact the Office.
If you’re just looking for a relaxing afternoon (shame on you!), then there’ll be the usual Saturday afternoon activities to watch, including ‘Sociable Saturday’ racing, while our young sailors (Team Grafham) will be honing their sailing and racing skills.
