Emergency Drill Saturday 23rd September

You should have been there! If only for the soup…or the tea and cake later! 18 club members who volunteer on ribs took part in the Sept 23 Refresher Day and we all learnt a lot. Especially when we did a drill for an emergency on the water. The MoB dummy pretended it had a neck injury and was recovered after being strapped to a floating stretcher. Then there was the club member who pretended to collapse and stop breathing near the gatehut: the first-aid mannequin beside him got the CPR. If that was not enough, participants learnt about VHF and GPS basics, and practised on ribs or committee boats. Next time we plan to make the drill even more realistic! So rib and committee boat crews, look out for the next date.
