During the Covid-19 restrictions, special arrangements are in place for competitive sailing. Up-to-date details can be found in the Coronavirus Blog. Signing on is via WebCollect. Click the button to access it:
Normally racing takes place every Sunday throughout the year and on Wednesday evenings from April to September. Races are organised into ‘series’ spanning 10 Sundays and 21 summer Wednesdays. The winning crews in each series are those with the best cumulative performances. Click for details of the:
Flying Fifteens, Lasers and D-Zeros race as one-design fleets on Sundays. Results for all other classes (and all boats on Wednesdays) are computed from average lap times, corrected using a local handicap system. Click through to view dinghy and catamaran handicaps in use at Grafham.
In addition to series racing, there are a number of ‘one-off’ club events, notably:
- the Club Championship for the Duke of Edinburgh Trophy (usually sailed in September). Click for Notice of Race and details about Bart’s Bash. Click for Supplementary Sailing Instructions for DoE and Bart’s Bash.
- a Pursuit Race to conclude the Wednesday Evening Series (usually on the first Wednesday in September). Click for Notice of Race and SSIs
- a Christmas Pursuit Race on the morning of the annual Christmas lunch. Click for Notice of Race and Supplementary Sailing Instructions.
On Friday evenings from May to August, we run “Friendly Fridays” and on Saturday afternoons throughout the summer we offer “Sociable Saturdays”. These activities are intended tor those who want to develop their sailing and racing skills, but maybe aren’t ready for the full “cut & thrust” of Sunday and Wednesday racing.
