Long Term Memberships and Infrastructure Development
We have plans to continue to develop the Club site and buildings over the next few years. To do so will require significant expenditure that will impact upon the Club’s financial reserves. In order to improve the Club’s financial flexibility in the short term, we are inviting members who would like to do so to take out a five or ten year membership, payable in advance. The rate would be fixed at the current membership rate for the full term.
The first project is to replace the water and space heating systems. The work has started and should be completed by the end of the Calendar Year. Your Council took the view that replacement of the water heating system is critical to the continued successful operation of the Club: the existing system is over twenty years’ old and sailing without hot showers is not tenable!
A grant to part finance the project has been secured but the total cost to the Club will still be a little over £50,000. Whilst the Club has cash reserves, this membership proposal is to enable us to rebuild these in the shorter term.
I should stress that this proposal is entirely voluntary, but we see it as one way for those who so wish to help improve the flexibility of the Club’s finances. If you.are interested in taking this further, please fill in the form at the link below and return to the Club Office.
You should note that if you take up the proposal you would be committing to membership of the Club throughout the period, so the sum would be non-refundable. If anyone wishes to make a further separate donation to the cost of this and other projects, this will also be gratefully received.
